Trial Support Technologist - Philadelphia

SUMMARY:  This role reports to the Trial Support Technology Manager in the Practice Support & Innovation group and has responsibility for providing technical support to legal teams during all phases of litigation with a primary focus on trial presentation.  The ideal candidate will support a variety of Practice Support applications, including document review platforms, transcript management databases, trial presentation software, and related eDiscovery software.

 

Essential Trial Support Functions:

  • Coordinate with legal teams, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors for offsite war room and courtroom set-up.
  • Configure and operate presentation tools in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality demonstrative evidence, including electronic exhibits, animations, timelines, and complex graphics.
  • Provide on-site technical support during depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and recommend appropriate workflows and technology solutions for specific business needs.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Record time and expenses incurred for client billing purposes.

 

Essential eDiscovery Functions:

  • Responsible for all aspects of eDiscovery, including the analysis, processing, review, and production of electronic data.
  • Responsible for following protocols, polices, and quality control checks as defined in established firm workflows.
  • Oversee intake, tracking, staging, analysis, and reporting of electronic evidence.
  • Shared responsibility for Practice Support requests submitted through Help Desk to ensure issues are resolved accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide training to attorneys and staff on the use of Practice Support applications.
  • Design and create databases, reports, and other documents upon request.
  • Promote operational efficiency and a high level of customer service.
 

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent number of combined years/experience required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Trial Technology consulting positions with law firms, corporate legal departments, or eDiscovery service providers.
  • Strong understanding of eDiscovery, litigation support, and trial technology.
  • Proficiency in a variety of litigation support applications, including Relativity, TrialDirector, and other eDiscovery software.
  • Solid problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to make pertinent decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of courtroom technology and best practices for displaying evidence.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and interact with a diverse group of contacts and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours, as needed.
  • Must be flexible and possess excellent organizational and project management skills necessary to prioritize and successfully accomplish numerous tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience with the following activities/processes:
    • Courtroom, mediation, and binding arbitration presentations
    • Customized Trial Notebooks
    • Electronic trial database
    • Simplification of complex legal concepts for exhibit preparation and display
    • PowerPoint presentations for Opening and Closing Arguments
    • Demonstratives, including diagrams, charts, calendars, and timelines
    • Interactive depositions
    • Synchronization of video deposition with transcript for courtroom playback and clip creation
    • Procurement and installation of war room and presentation equipment.
  • Ability to conduct training of Practice Support applications and best practices.
