JOB TITLE: Revenue Integrity Lead

POSITION SUMMARY
The Revenue Integrity Lead is responsible for protecting and maximizing firm revenue by driving rate implementation, overseeing e-billing compliance, managing client deductions and appeals, and identifying and improving/correcting the root causes of revenue leakage. This role reports to the Manager of Financial Analysis and partners closely with Billing, Credit & Collections, and Billing Attorneys to ensure approved pricing arrangements are accurately translated into billing systems, invoices comply with client requirements, and the firm captures the full value of services rendered.
This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that combines finance experience, analytical rigor, operational execution, a willingness to embrace technology and AI, and strong communication with Billing Attorneys and client legal operations teams. The role also serves as a bridge between Pricing and Billing by helping confirm that rates, alternative fee arrangements, budgets, fee caps, discounts, and other matter-specific pricing terms are operationalized after matter intake and monitored throughout the life of the matter.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Rate Setting and Pricing Arrangement
- Drive the rate setting process by translating approved rates and pricing decisions into billing-ready rate structures
- Serve as a liaison between pricing and billing to help ensure approved rates, discounts, AFAs, and other pricing arrangements are accurately set up and maintained
- Review matter intake information and pricing approvals to confirm that agreed-upon economic terms are properly reflected in the firm’s financial and billing systems
- Identify and escalate rate or pricing setup discrepancies before they result in invoice rejections, deductions, write-downs or realization leakage
E-Billing & Client Compliance
- Oversee proper submission and management of invoices through e-billing systems such as Legal Tracker, Tymetrix, CounselLink and similar platforms
- Ensure compliance with client-specific billing guidelines, rate structures, budget requirements and approved pricing terms
- Monitor and resolve invoice rejections and ensure timely resubmission
Post Matter Intake Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor matters after intake to verify that pricing arrangements, including standard rates, client-specific rates, AFAs, budgets, fee caps and discount structures, are implemented and followed
- Develop reporting that tracks pricing arrangement compliance by client, matter, practice group and responsible attorney
- Identify recurring issues such as missing rate updates, inconsistent matter setup, budget overages, AFA tracking gaps and other implementation breakdowns
- Provide actionable reporting and recommendations to Pricing, Billing, Credit & Collections, attorneys and leadership to reduce preventable revenue leakage
Deductions & Appeals Management
- Own the end-to-end process for client deductions, short pays and write-down disputes
- Evaluate deductions to determine validity and develop appropriate recovery strategies
- Lead and execute appeals, including drafting and coordinating responses with billing attorneys and collectors
- Track and report on appeal outcomes, including recovery rates, trends and responsible root causes and recommend next steps to correct
Revenue Leakage Analysis
Identify and quantify revenue loss related to:
- Client deductions
- Time entry non-compliance
- Rate or pricing setup errors
- Post intake implementation gaps involving rates, AFAs, budgets, fee caps or discounts
- Analyze trends by client, practice group, responsible attorney, pricing arrangement type and billing root cause
- Develop actionable recommendations to reduce repeat issues, improve realization and strengthen pricing-to-billing coordination
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with:
- Pricing to drive rate setting implementation, AFA tracking and post intake monitoring
- Billing teams to address root causes of rejections, improve invoice quality and confirm accurate matter setup
- Credit & Collections to support recovery efforts and align on client strategy
- Attorneys and practice leaders to ensure compliance with client requirements and address recurring issues
Process Improvement & Standardization
Develop and implement standardized workflows for:
- Deduction tracking and resolution
- E-billing exception handling
- Rate setup verification and pricing arrangement monitoring
- Post matter intake reporting and escalation
- Create templates, playbooks and best practices to improve efficiency and consistency
- Drive automation and AI adoption where appropriate using firm approved tools
Reporting & Leadership Visibility
- Prepare regular reporting for leadership, including:
- Deduction and appeal trends
- Rate setup and pricing arrangement compliance issues
- Top clients and drivers of write-offs
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve firm-wide billing, pricing implementation and collection practices
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 5 or more years of experience in legal billing, collections, pricing support or revenue cycle management in a law firm, with AmLaw 100 experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of e-billing platforms, client billing guidelines, law firm billing processes and matter intake workflows
- Experience with deductions, appeals, billing disputes, rate implementation, pricing arrangement monitoring or related revenue integrity work
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and translate findings into practical recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with billing partners, senior firm leadership and cross-functional teams
Preferred
- Experience working with Aderant or similar financial systems
- Experience building reporting and dashboards using Excel, Power BI or similar tools
- Experience with pricing, including AFAs, blended rates, discounts, budget monitoring, fee caps and client-specific rate structures
- Prior experience leading or building a new function or process improvement initiative
