IP Docketing Systems Specialist

Job Title:                    IP Docketing SystemsSpecialist                   

Reports to:                 IP Docketing SystemsAdministrator

Job Summary:

Maintains the docketing database andrelated systems as well as providing docketing support to various teams withinthe Intellectual Property Practice Group.  


·                    Assists with the creation and maintenance ofdocumentation for all processes involving IP systems updates and maintenance


·                    Assists IP Docketing Systems Administrator withdocketing system updates and upgrades


·                    Assists IP Docketing Systems Administrator andIP Docketing Supervisor with intakes and transfers, ensuring successful importationor exportation of data 


·                    Assists with the creation, maintenance, anddeactivation of all user accounts in docketing database, the firm’s USPTOdeposit account, and PAIR


·                    Generates statistical reports within docketingdatabase as requested by management


·                    Calendars dates in connection with patent andtrademark application filings, formalities, office actions, maintenance fees


·                    Downloads electronic correspondence or scansincoming mail from USPTO, foreign patent offices, or foreign agents and filesinto document management system


·                    Circulates incoming correspondence from USPTO,foreign patent offices, or foreign agents to appropriate attorney teams


·                    Prepares firm-standard and custom docket reportsfor attorney-teams


·                    Manages department page on firm intranet


·                    Proactively monitors due dates to ensuredeadlines are timely met


·                    Reviews outstanding dates in docketing database,consult with supervisor, and advance or de-docket as instructed


·                    Participate in IP practice group and docketingteam meetings


·                    Provide back-up support to other docketers asneeded


Job Qualifications:


·                    High school diploma


·                    At least 5 years of experience working withdocketing databases


·                    Thorough understanding of domestic and foreignpatent and trademark prosecution and lifecycles (Nonprovisional, Provisional,PCT, Madrid Protocol)


·                    Familiarity with various patent and trademarkoffices (USPTO, WIPO)


·                    Knowledge of docketing terminology, bestpractices, and patent & trademark laws


·                    Ability to independently determine prioritydates, calculate due dates, and verify terms within IP management software


·                    Experience working with electronic filingsystems and navigating patent office databases such as EFS-Web, Public PAIR,Private PAIR, TEAS, TSDR


·                    Strong computer skills with the ability tomanipulate and analyze data; experience with SQL and Blue Horse preferred


·                    Demonstrated attention to detail, timemanagement skills, problem-solving mindset
