Marketing and Business Development Specialist (DE&I) - Washington, D.C.

OVERVIEW: Duane Morris LLP, a global law firm with 900+ attorneys in offices across the U.S. and around the world, offers innovative solutions to the legal and business challenges presented by today’s evolving global markets.

SUMMARY: Responsibilities will include events, content development, social media, pitches and proposals, etc. related to the Firm’s award-winning DE&I initiatives – and how DE&I can interface most productively with our highest potential clients, our industry sector and practice teams, and our key client program.

This role has important, front-line responsibility with our lawyers and will work closely with a successful, plugged-in group of Marketing & Business Development Managers, as well as our core MBD team in Philadelphia.

 

The DEI Specialist will work closely with the Chief Diversity Equity & Inclusion Officer (CDEIO) and the growing DEI team (which also includes a manager and assistant and soon-to-be-hired DE&I Partner/Special Counsel) to support and execute the Firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will be an outgoing, polished, detail-oriented, pathologically-organized and responsive professional with strong project-development and -management skills and a creative, solutions-oriented mindset, ideally honed in a large law firm or other professional services context.
  • This role touches every aspect of the law firm MBD service offering and is an excellent place in which to develop and expand your skills with the support of your colleagues, but without micro-management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong relationship-development, communication, events management and proactive client service skills and attitude are essential; familiarity with DE&I processes, sponsor organizations, content, and market receptivity highly desirable.
  • Must be outgoing, comfortable demonstrating initiative, and able to think critically and creatively.
  • High sense of responsibility, accountability, and focus on responsiveness.
  • 5+ years’ of experience in a law firm (AmLaw 100 firm a plus) or other professional services firm desired.
  • Experience in lawyer/practice/industry support, including coaching, team mentoring, , events, pitch/other content development, budget creation/management, CRM; DE&I experience is a plus
  • College degree required. English or other writing-intensive background helpful. Occasional travel required.
  • A sense of humor and humility would be nice
